How It Works

What we need from you, how the geography is built, and what arrives at the end.

What we need from you

Every map starts with the same short brief. You do not need to prepare anything special — a list in an email is enough.

  • Couple names — exactly as they should appear, including the ampersand style you prefer.
  • The date — a wedding date, an anniversary, or a date range.
  • The places — for each one: what it means to you (first met, first date, first home, proposal, wedding), its name, the city, and the year.
  • The size you plan to print — or tell us it is undecided and we will advise.

How the map is built

The geography is not drawn by hand and it is not a screenshot of a navigation app. Each map starts from open geographic data: coastlines, rivers, lakes, parks and the main street network. That geometry is then edited for print — minor roads, transit lines, shop names and every piece of navigation furniture are removed, leaving the structure of the city and the landmarks that identify it.

On top of that base we place your story: a small drawn marker for each place, a label with its name and year, and a fine dashed line that connects the pins in narrative order. The dashed line represents your story, not a driving route, so it deliberately ignores one-way streets and traffic logic.

Markers

Each location type has its own icon, drawn in the same line weight so the set stays visually calm:

  • First met — a coffee cup
  • First date — a heart
  • Our home — a house
  • Proposal — a ring
  • Wedding — entwined double hearts, drawn larger so the wedding day closes the composition

Proofs and revisions

You receive a watermarked proof as a PDF. Nothing is printed or finalised before you approve it. Minor revisions — spelling, a pin nudged, a year corrected — are included. If a location cannot be placed reliably from the information you gave us, it is flagged on the proof and you confirm the final position before we proceed.

Files you receive

Final delivery is digital, by download link, in the sizes you ordered:

  • Vector PDF — the file print shops prefer.
  • SVG — infinitely scalable, for future reprints.
  • 300 DPI PNG — a straight-to-print raster file for home printers and online labs.
  • Sizes — 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, A4 and A3, all cut from the same layout so nothing shifts between formats.

Timing

The first proof arrives within three working days of a complete brief. Final files land within one working day of your approval. If you are working to a wedding deadline, tell us the date in your first email and we will confirm whether it is comfortable before you order.
