A small studio, one kind of work
Latitude & Lace makes personalised maps: love story maps for weddings and anniversaries, and single-place city maps for people who want one view of somewhere that matters to them.
The studio is deliberately narrow. It does not sell templates you edit yourself, and it does not sell generic wall art with a city name dropped on top. Every map is built for one couple, from their places, and checked by a person before it ships.
Why the maps look like this
Most map images online are screenshots. They carry the visual language of navigation — road labels, points of interest, colour codes, borders — and once framed, that language reads as utility rather than as a keepsake.
We take the opposite approach. The geography is real and accurately placed, but everything that exists purely to help someone drive is removed. What remains is water, parks, the main street structure and the landmarks you chose. The result looks like a drawing of a city rather than a page from a navigation app, while the pins still sit exactly where the places really are.
How the work is produced
Each commission is generated from a data file describing the couple, their dates and their places, and rendered through a cartography pipeline that pulls live geographic data for the area being mapped. That means two things that matter to you: the geography is not approximated, and a corrected address changes the map rather than requiring a redraw.
Typography, marker design and colour are then finished by hand for the individual order — the palette can be matched to wedding stationery, and the layout can be adjusted for a specific frame.
Credits and data
Geographic data is derived from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. Map labels for named places come from the same source. Typography uses freely licensed typefaces suitable for commercial print.
